heirloom jungle

the tomatoes are getting huge. they're even a few feet taller since i took this picture. this year i planted green zebra, purple cherokee, mister stripey, and celebrity (and various hot peppers).

new headboard

here is the new headboard i made a few weeks ago. i reused the wood that was holding up the drop ceiling in the basement, and rewired the jar lights with these little switches.

new landscaping

the new landscaping is almost done; we are waiting for someone to come grind out the stumps on either end of the house. the grasses are small now, but they should fill in quickly. we used elijah blue for the front, which will stay small, and little zebra behind, which should grow to 3 feet. at the corners, we used heavy metal no. 3, which should grow to 6 feet. under the bird feeder, we planted praying hands hosta (the leaves grow and remain folded).

landscaping

we decided to address the landscaping in the front of our house. so, no more yew bushes! i'm thinking about decorative grasses instead.

we also cut down the tree in front of my bedroom. it's probably time for some new roller shades and some curtains.

the flowers of withington

every tree at the house is blooming all at once. i want giant vases of branches all over the house, but i'll wait until at least next week.

kitchens

with spring coming up, i have kitchens on my mind. there are elements in each of these pictures that i love; wood, steel, white, chalkboard (i'm still on the fence about chalkboard). i also love open shelving, but i don't like to dust. these pictures are from a few of my favorite blogs including remodelista, emmas designblogg, bloesem, desire to inspire, and materialicious.
